Overview: Send Money

Terms:

  • My account refers to bank accounts or mobile wallets that you own and have added to your Kopo Kopo account.
  • External recipient refers to bank accounts, till, paybill and mobile wallets belonging to others.
  • A blind transfer moves all available funds from your Kopo Kopo account to the transfer accounts linked to your company and tills. When initiating a blind transfer, you do not need to specify either the amount or the destination.

Use this guide when you (the merchant) would like to:

  • Withdraw funds from your Kopo Kopo account to one of your transfer accounts
  • Send money to external recipients.

For this section, we’ll cover the following:

  • Adding your Merchant Bank Account or Merchant Mobile Wallet to receive funds from your Kopo Kopo account.
  • Sending money to your bank accounts and mobile wallets
  • Sending money to external recipients

Before you begin

You need to have a Sandbox account already set up.

Send money to my account

To send money to your accounts, you must first add them (bank accounts or mobile wallets) to your Kopo Kopo merchant account.

For blind transfers, ensure that your company and tills are linked to transfer accounts where funds should be sent. During the transfer process, you can still override these default settings and choose a different destination account if needed.

Send money to an external recipient

When sending money to others, the external recipient account will be automatically created in your Kopo Kopo merchant account (if it does not exist) once the payment is made. To send money to external recipients refer to the Send money to external recipients section. Always ensure your requests are authorized.
